MARIA SANZ: ’Near-field Scanning Optical Microscopy’
Over the last decade, different fluorescence microscopy techniques aimed at breaking the diffraction limit of light have been developed. One of these superresolution techniques is near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM), where a subwavelength aperture is scanned in close proximity to the sample. By combinig this technique with modern nanoscale fabrication technologies, one can achieve an optical resolution of ~20 nm that is very suitable for imaging biological samples.

SANDRA DE VEGA: ’Optics Free Manipulation at the Nanoscale’

We’ll go beyond compact integrated optical devices that can be manipulated without light. Also, we’ll see an overview on how to describe and make predictions of a device performance as well as its potential for optoelectronics applications.
