Description of Activities:

In materials with a relatively low extinction coefficient, such as the one found in many of the bulk hetero-junctions formed with low band gap polymers and PCBM derivatives, the wavelength dependence of the photon to charge conversion efficiency, or external quantum efficiency (EQE) is essentially modulated by the index of refraction and thickness of all layers that compose the cell architecture. In such layered configuration, a tandem structure that combines two or more cells of the kind of active materiel described can be used to achieve an optimized configuration that maximizes the EQE at all wavelengths.
