Research versus wealth generation

ICFO's director, Prof. Lluis Torner, invited speaker at the World Year of Physics celebration held at the Parliament of Catalonia, gave a talk entitled Research and Society: Knowledge Transfer where he discussed how to generate wealth out of scientific research. Prof. Torner discussed the conditions of an ideal innovative society, and pointed out the several economic, social and political ingredients needed to generate wealth and employment based on knowledge and technology.
