Gajendra Pratap Singh works in Raman spectroscopy of single living cells
May 02, 2006
Mr. Gajendra Pratap Singh, a student doing his PhD at ICFO, has been chosen to receive a 2006 Coblentz Society Student Award for his work in Raman spectroscopy. The Coblentz Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1954 devoted to fostering the understanding and application of vibrational spectroscopy.
Gajendra Pratap received a Bachelor in Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (India) and a MSc degree in Biotechnology from the University of Calicut (India). Since then he has been working in his PhD thesis in the field of optical tweezers in Prof. Petrov’s group at ICFO.
Gajendra Pratap’s research project is focused on the combination of Raman spectroscopy with optical tweezers techniques, in order to obtain time and space resolved information of biochemical and biophysical reactions occurring inside single living cells.
Gajendra Pratap does his PhD at ICFO and at the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, thanks to an ICFO-UPC fellowship.
