New ICFOnians

Three new ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of December. Welcome aboard!

January 01, 2018

One postdoc, Juan Torreño, one research engineer, Alexandra Rodrigues, and one student, Shambhavee Annurakshita, have joined ICFO in the month of December.

Juan Torreño, who holds a 2015 PhD in Photonics from ICFO, is coming back to the institute to rejoin the Single Molecule Biophotonics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maria Garcia-Parajo Simon Wall as a postdoctoral researcher. At ICFO, he will be working on two different projects: on intra-cellular phase transitions in collaboration with the group of Miguel Beat at the CRG, and on the role of CD44 spatiotemporal organization in the context of cell cancer migration.

Alexandra Rodrigues obtained an 2013 MSc degree in Materials Engineering from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal), and is now joining the Quantum Nano-Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Frank Koppens and the Molecular Nanophotonics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Niek van Hulst as a research engineer. At ICFO, she will be working on graphene for textile.

Shambhavee Annurakshita, who is currently pursuing a Master degree in Photonics from the International School of Photonics, Cusat (India), has joined the Molecular Nanophotonics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Niek van Hulst as a student.
